Integers(Z)

are positive and negative whole numbers.

Rational Numbers(Q)

are numbers which can be expressed as a quotient (fraction).

A rational number is a part of a whole number and is shown as an integer numerator and a non-zero integer denominator.

These quotients can also be written as decimals, percentages or negative exponents.

When rational numbers are expressed as decimals, they can be terminating decimals (0.3) or non-terminating decimals (0.3333333....).

Irrational Numbers (R\Q)

are numbers which cannot be written as a quotient.

Irrational numbers are not terminating or recurring decimals.

Surds

Are irrational numbers written as a root which cannot be reduced to a whole number.
